Wing-T Quarterback Passing and Footwork Drills
Awesome video Coach I just got your book I have wanted it for a while good stuff.
Aww, thanks coach - appreciate the comment and good luck. Reach out if you need anything.
Snap timing is the issue I see. The ball is hitting the edge no quicker than a simple toss play. Snap must be later to get the ball to the edge quicker.
No argument here! Timing takes a lot of work. Note that the motion and potential for the wide sweep itself is a threat, especially at this age level. We found that it opened up the inside running game for us.
@@Wingtcoachfootball Yes the timing takes work and many times the wing just doesn't trust that the QB will get him the ball so he slows up. And with the younger kids we all know it doesn't matter what we drill into them, they're going to do there own thing sometimes.

We ran Delaware wing t in hs. My favorite offense. Inner-city hs school from Philly so Tubby Raymond was a local football god
aside from exact footwork . . . great demo of basic technique
Is the Quarterback opening up to the motion?
Yes, and I like to see a full 180 deg pivot (so he's lifting the foot that is on the jet back's side) and get his back to the defense for the handoff. Keeps the ball hidden and opens up the trap and boot/waggle options.
So if I'm the right tackle and my rule is Gap Down Backer Is that where the difference between a gap block (Head across) and down block (Head behind) come in cause the down is further away? Or do I use these techniques based on how the guy is playing me if the defender is reading head behind if he's penetrating head across? even if he's in my gap would I ever use a down technique? Does that make sense?
Usually we'll prefer a down block ("head in the hole") because it will make it more difficult for the defender to cross the blocker to the point of attack. I cover this in depth in this article: wingt-coach.com/understanding-the-down-gap-and-cover-blocks/
Coach what is your installation period throughout the summer if your state does that? Week 1: Buckseries: Trap, Sweep, Counter, & waggle Week 2: Jet series: sweep, Trap, XX, and boot Week 3: Belly and down series? You do anything like that that’d you share?
That's a good plan. I have some articles about this: wingt-coach.com/installing-the-wing-t-week-1/ wingt-coach.com/start-with-the-belly-series/ Summary of my practice planning articles: wingt-coach.com/blog/#practice-planning
Buck series can be tough to do well. Trap and Sweep require strong guard play, and consistent and precise backfield footwork. Don't move on until you've mastered it. Might take two weeks.
These are great videos
Thank you!
Against those (unsound) defensive alignments I see in the videos a 5 year old team could run down with success.
Anyway to get this Jet Playbook?? I just downloaded the belly playbook today so looking to get this jetsweep playbook
The jet series is part of the full playbook, you can find that here: wingt-coach.com/products/
3:38 Maybe the DE wouldn't've come way upfield if he hadn't seen the OG coming at him! I know, he was probably coached to box, but he might've slanted more inside if he didn't see the guard coming.
Only on the 3rd rep did I see the footwork I'd want from the trapper. Does it matter to you, or is the both-feet-pivot just as good for your first move as the bucket step?

Are you still here coach got a couple questions
Yes - ask away or send me an email at chris@chrisbrooks.org
Coach: I have been running some of your plays with my 5th and 6th graders along with the Raymond and Evashevski Wing-T that I ran in high school in 1958 which resulted in an 8-0 youth football season this year. I have your book with the video links and would like to get any plays you have added since you published your book. Great stuff! Thank you.
Thanks Richard! I stopped coaching a couple of years ago so nothing new to add (yet).
never drop your hands. It is like a fight keep hands under the chin, your boxing
Using this for sure
These were all my drills we did in highschool....GREAT STUFF💪🏈
A few more photos of the blocking moves would e helpful.
I would also like to see your blocking schemes against a true 5-3-2-1.
The rules work against any front, and the examples I give in the books focus on a generic odd front (3-5-3 / 3-3 stack etc.) and a four man even front. I know first hand that adjustments are required depending on specifics of what you are facing, but even a 5-3-2-1 can look different depending on the defensive specifics, personnel, etc.
I have your book and cards and would like to get anything more recent than 2015 that you have. I ran the Evashevski version of the Wing T (two TE) in high school in 1958. Nice work!
Thank you Richard! Anything more recent is on my web site. As I'm not coaching these days there haven't been as many updates. Feel free to email me if any specific questions come up.
Question: I love wide splits, but wonder what advantage does hand on the heal of the center gives you
Because our blocks are primarily angle blocks (down and gap, traps and pulls) the deeper spacing gives the OL more time and space to get the first 1-2 steps in before contact with the enemy.
That makes perfect sense. Thanks for the help Hope you and the family are doing well Love your station. Keep it going!
I have your excellent book and would like to get your clinic slides. I run the traditionally Delaware-Iowa Wing T using the 1-9 hole designations.
Hi coach - email me at chris@chrisbrooks.org and I can send you some stuff.
I ran the wing t in high school in 1958. I would like to see your offnese run against the 5-3 defense which is what most of the youth teams we face run. Thank you.
I want to purchase your bundle of books and play cards. Just wanna make sure it’s legit
Still legit! I haven’t coached for a couple of years. I split time between NY and roaming through the winter; doesn’t suit well for football season
How can we get ahold of you to talk about the wing t?
Shoot me an email at chris@chrisbrooks.org and perhaps we can do a phone chat
@@Wingtcoachfootball thank you coach for replying back! Greatly appreciate it! Going to email you tonight. Thank you once again
We run the wing t offense for our peewee teams and it can get difficult for the kids to learn
Need to unload the hips. Do you downblock and trap block with hands?
In what world would the Strong Side DE play an 6i technique?
What world? Youth football world!
Why couldn’t you have wing block down on end and run it wider.
You can Christopher, which would be a wide version of buck sweep. Most Wing-T purists run buck sweep as essentially an off-tackle play, having the wing go to second level to take linebacker and using play side guard to kick out the end.
Good morning I’m a new youth coach looking for the practice plan document

No hop motion on buck sweep?
Coach on their wristbands what do you include? I see some of them have two

This is a different take on the tackle trap I've seen. Really, really like it! Hadn't thought of the counter trey scheme
Hello there, have you considered Episoketren System yet? Just simply do a google search. On there you'll find a great suggestions about how you can improve your soccer game. Why don't you give it a shot? perhaps it's going to work for you too.
Is Episoketren System effective to increase your soccer technique? I have read many good things about this popular training program.
Coaches have to be on the same page!! One mishap and the entire system is out of sync.
Love attaching snap counts to type of play! Fast screens on a quick count...
Yes, this worked better than I ever dreamed it could. Easy for the kids to remember too.
How do you determine what four plays go on your script? Assuming you run these four plays consecutively, what happens when you get to a third down distance/situation where play #3 or #4 isn’t appropriate?
After finishing my scouting report I would come up with a list of our “best plays” to run against the opponent. This factors into the script. Your point is valid and it is a trade off of speed vs. perfection. If we didn’t get the hoped-for gains on first and second down, we might call off the auto script and change plays.
This is when HUDL was 100 bucks for a youth team and a season. LOL!

What's difference in gap block and down block? Looks like get head across on gap.
You got it. I wrote an article about this: wingt-coach.com/understanding-the-down-gap-and-cover-blocks/
@@Wingtcoachfootball Would you recommend a Gap, Down, Backer scheme or a Gap, on, Down?
@@chrisstudstill114 They both work when the rules are followed! I think coach familiarity and ability to teach are more important
Both will work on buck and power? What about rules for the wing?
First year as head coach. Been an assistant. Do you recommend this offense?
